Li'l Red Riding Hood

The year was 1965 and a newly formed rock and roll band called Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs released a cute little novelty song called Wooly Bully  Wooly Bully climbed to #2 on the music charts; never reaching the coveted #1 spot. But just the same Wooly Bully became a huge hit for Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs. The following year Sam and his group released another tune called Li'l Red Riding Hood.

It too charted all the way to #2 on the charts, and over the years went on to be covered by other artists such as The Coasters, The Metors, and Johnny O and the Jerks.
More recently a cover of Li'l Red Riding Hood was recorded by Amanda Seyfried for the 2011 dark fantasy thriller movie she starred in titled Red Riding Hood.

Earlier this year, 2012, the Volvo car company came out with a commercial using Sam the Sham’s song as a back drop portraying a subtle message about their cars safe engineering  The car company asked Laura Gibson to record the Li’l Red Riding Hood song for the Volvo commercial.

Because of the commercial’s appeal, Gibson was encouraged to release the recording, which she did - along with three other songs - on her Little Red Riding Hood album.

She has also released several other albums including: Six White Horses: Blues & Traditionals Vol. 1, Bridge Carols, If You Come to Greet Me,

Beast of Seasons, Sweet Deception

and La Grande: La Grande..
