Jesus the Man – His Authority or the Father's?
Did Jesus live His life and conduct His ministry as a man or did He rely on His own Deity powers, i.e. His own authority? Or, as a man, did He do all things relying on His faith, and the faith of others, in God the Father? In other words, did Jesus live as a man with spiritual powers not available to other men? I believe the following Scriptures teach He did not. The (NKJV) Scriptures listed below in black/bold/italicized/underlined font are Scriptures supporting this teaching. Other (NKJV) Scriptures in red/bold/italicized/underlined font are Scriptures emphasizing the humanity of Jesus.
Let me pose this question; If Jesus was able to turn the water into wine because He was able to use His own powers of Deity, then what was the “big deal”? After all, He created the entire universe. But, if as a man, He turned the water into wine by relying only on His faith in the Father (rather than His own authority) than it was a “big deal” – it demonstrated the true power of faith. I think it is safe to say everything Jesus did while living on earth as a man, from His conception in Mary’s womb to His resurrection from death, was a “big deal” – because it was a demonstration of faith.
